LED Cube

LED Cube Directions

We are thinking about recording a live feed from an accelerometer, hooking it up to an arduino, and then displaying the data one an LED Cube. The wind will be the dependent variable to the display of light.

The accelerometer will be something like this product to hook up on the arduino.

Final Project Proposal

Arduino

Protoshield and LED light board
This experiment will be able to tell time, temperature, voice respondent, visual display.
Directions

These three projects have the potential to be combined through the arduino. It will not be on a large scale such as the Cube or Table, more like the light board in the first project. The main source that I want the lights to react to is movement.

The slime mold is not as stable as we thought it would be, this variable has the capability of not reacting to our original idea so I am strongly considering dropping this factor.

Week 8 Readings

It is pretty astonishing that we as a human race are coming closer to evolving our technology in the medical department of machines. For people to measure how our bodies are treating us psychologically, physically, and biologically will change medicine as a man kind. We will develop machines that can help diagnose and cure diseases that they will basically become a borderline medical doctor. This is hard for me to wrap my mind around, it almost seems surreal, like in old movies about the future where humans have discovered hover boards and it's just a daily life product.

Project Plan

For this project I will need the following materials:

Ferrofluid
Magnets
Switches
Lights
Arduino

I want to create a system that will activate ferrofluid into turning on and off a light switch. In this process I want the ferrofluid to be the main source for activating the light. The ferrofluid will be in a container with a series of magnets, the box will seal in the fluid from leaking. On the outside of the box the magnets will be connected to a switch to activate the magnetic pull of the ferrofluid. When the switch is on the fluid will travel to that magnet. Each magnet will contain its own individual colored light source or be the off switch to the system.

Assignment 3

By testing the magnetic field around ferrofluid it will move and distort into multiple round shapes with pointed tips. This liquid will react to the materials around it while forming around the object if provided a magnetic current. For example if you drop a penny in ferrofluid and place a magnet underneath the penny it will rise to the top of the fluid. Like any liquid it will react in waves if there is sound, but I want to see if the fluid will provide a sound of its own that can be recorded when there is a bass current underneath the fluid.
On another thought I would like to test the ferrofluid to see if color will react to the sound of a bass current in an electromagnetic dish.
